How to create opportunities

It happens too often for it to be a coincidence.
It's a book (it's always a book). A jumper. Something you want. Something you want to happen. Whatever.
And then - as if by magic - it appears.
Without you doing ANYTHING to make it happen!
I'm not talking about pens and socks and random items of clothing re-appearing after having been lost for months, or even years. (Or does that just happen to me?)
But about something new. Something you've just thought of. Something that you WANT.
You see, I've got a theory about that.
Well, no, I have THREE theories about that.
I never thought of myself as very spiritual. I always was more of the roll-up-your-sleeves-let's-get-this-thing-DONE down-to-earth type.
But lately I've had to articulate what I think of how these sort of coincidences actually happen.
Because they happen, don't they?
And if you KNOW they happen, how can you then have more influence on MAKING them happen?
Here is my take on things:
Theory #1 - You see what you FOCUS on
You know exactly how this goes. You saw this jumper for sale. You LOVE it. You want it. All of a sudden everyone is wearing it.
Well. Not EVERYONE is wearing it. But you SEE everyone wearing it.
Same when you were pregnant. It turned out that EVERYONE was having babies. Again, not really.
And yes, the same with a book I was keen on a few years ago. I wanted this book The Artist's Way, by Julia Cameron. I'd never heard of it before. All of a sudden EVERYONE was talking about it (the book is 25 years' old!). I HAD to have it. And there it was. In the charity shop. Ready for me to buy.
You see what you focus on.
So, what if what you focus on becomes less about clothes, or books, but instead about something you want in your CAREER?
What if you are crystal clear on what you want?
Why would that be any different from wanting a book? Or that jumper?
Theory #2 - Energy and (beauty) quarks
Don't ask. I don't know what beauty quarks are either.
Our son came home from college. An over-enthusiastic physics teacher had told them all about beauty quarks. He told me about it whilst we were washing up.
What I understood was this.
That everything in the universe hangs together with energy. Everything.
Imagine that! What if that is true? What if we are all connected through energy?
What influence could we have with our positive energy? What damage would we do with negative energy on everything around us?
What would we be able to make happen?
And finally ...
Theory #3 - Other people
My granddad collected paperclips.
He started it off quite by accident. He had a heap of paperclips and noticed how there were lots of different ones.
He started collecting them. He was known for it in his office. He spoke to friends about it. He ended up getting envelopes full of them sent to him by people from as far away as the US!
He had QUITE the backlog of bags full of them to compare and catalogue.
If you are clear on what you want AND tell other people about it 'coincidences' will start to happen. Opportunities will come up.
Because people are helpful.
They'll think of you. They'll remember what you told them. They'll know what you're interested in.
And will push opportunities your way.
In the last few months I've had a number of conversations that have made me think. About spiritualism, about opportunities and coincidences.
These are my theories on how to create opportunities.
What are yours?

P.S. Focus. It's pretty much the FIRST thing I'll talk to you about when you enrol in my Career Freedom programme. Even before we have our first coaching conversation.
Because once you get focused and start to articulate what you want things will start to happen. That's what I think anyway.
